Jay Leno visits EarthRoamer LTi but not in his garage

With electricity bills and household bills getting more and more expensive these days, it’s no surprise that many people are considering living off the grid. This is certainly not an easy goal, but not impossible. A vehicle like the EarthRoamer LTi is probably the closest thing to a fully furnished mansion that can be parked anywhere in the field and remain fully functional for days without electricity or water.
First unveiled in November 2019, the carbon fiber-bodied motorhome is currently in Jay Leno’s garage. In fact, Leno tested this amazing SUV not in his garage (does it fit?), but in nature. He is joined in the over 40 minute video above by Zach Renier, Account Manager at EarthRoamer. Or, more simply, someone who knows almost everything about adventure campers.
For starters, you should probably know that the LTi is based on the Ford F-550 Super Duty truck, which is a very powerful platform. Power comes from a 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. However, more interestingly, there are no propane tanks or onboard generators. Instead, LTi installed enough solar panels on the roof to generate 1,320 watts of power stored in an 11,000 watt-hour lithium-ion battery. There is also a diesel heater and a diesel water heater.
If you’re worried that such a big adventure car will require some extra maintenance, don’t worry – that’s not the case with the LTi. It uses the original engine, transmission, axles and other components, which means it can be repaired at any Ford dealership across the country. The amount of fluids a car can store is also impressive, with up to 100 gallons of fresh water and 60 gallons of greywater. There’s also a large 95-gallon fuel tank giving you over 1,000 miles of range on a single tank.
But the car itself isn’t even the best part. EarthRoamer teaches its customers how to use their vehicles for adventure and teaches them how to change tires, how to use a winch, how to get out of trouble off-road and more. Even a novice off-roader has nothing to fear.
